A man finds a kitten on a road in the Yungas and takes it home. He thinks it's a house cat.

It isn't. He brings it to La Senda Verde. Staff assume a common tiger cat and name him Tigrino. A biologist comes to look and takes a hundred photos.

Writing a field guide, she notices his spots match nothing from Brazil. “This is so wrong.”

Thirty-eight genomes across the genus. His line split from every other tiger cat 1.4 million years ago.

Leopardus tilcayo is published. First new cat species in 103 years. Tigrino is the only one known to exist.

$TIGRINO launches with 100% of its creator fees locked to his sanctuary. By evening the sanctuary posts a thank-you.

$100,000 crossed. His keeper prints a sign. “Tigrino” trends on X by name.
